Here’s the late entry on the day we explored a Singapore Navy ship! It was a blasting hot day but it was fun checking out the ship with Kate and her kids!
We had an awesome lunch at Crystal Jade before that.

History has been made! My first non-Balenciaga bag in the history of this blog arrived today! With this new category, I realise I have to make some changes in my tags! LOL! Because so far, all bags have been under a single Balenciaga tag! This is quite funny!
So, certain things that would never have happened a few years ago are now happening. I have not bought a single brown leather item in 16 years. That’s right. 16 friggin years. Thanks to my healthy obsession with Frye boots and the way they do browns so beautifully, I now have a brown leather bag to match my dark brown tall Carmens. The price is also rather amazing to me. With a decent discount (I was lucky to get them with a 20% off on Amazon), they are almost 1/10 of my MPPs! I really like the idea of having these sturdy bags to use and beat up, without having to worry about them! Not only is the price extremely wallet-friendly, Frye boots and bags do look better when they are well-seasoned!
No prizes for guessing which pair of boots I’m gonna wear in my next outfit…

It has been a busy few days! I had a coupla days off work and did some serious tidying and unwinding! It has been really fulfilling and I am almost done putting away all the stuff I brought back from the US at last. Teehee.
A is here visiting from SF and we have been hanging out! I took her to my favourite yakitori place, Kazu Sumiyaki and they didn’t let me down. :) Also took her for the best scones at TWG! I shall post food peektures in the next entry, but here are my outfits for the past week!

My second pair of Frye Carmen Harness Tall boots came in the mail, after a harrowing two days of worrying about whether they were lost along the way… I paid $70 to ship by EMS guaranteed delivery on a certain date which they did not meet. I was told by Singpost to pursue a refund but unfortunately, the friend who helped to send them to me did not think it was worth pursuing. To me, it’s not about the $70 but the moral of the whole thing, you know? I would gladly have done the same and more for this friend, but sadly she thought otherwise. I guess I always have too much faith in people.
Thankfully, the boots are completely awesome. On to the peektures!

I was pleasantly surprised at how distressed they were! Quite different from the Light Tan and full of deep, luscious character. If molten lava chocolate were a pair of boots, these would be it.
This was my first outfit with them!
Can’t wait to wear them again! A happy problem is slowly emerging. With my current family of Frye Carmens, I’m starting to have difficulty when deciding which pair to wear! I love each pair so much! <3

Interrupting the travel entries for this one on what I’ve been up to in my Singapore home!
So… I carted a few things home from Target (and had to buy extra luggage space for them on the plane). Including my Simply Shabby Chic curtains!
I was so happy when I put them up! They make a huge difference to the room!
I also brought Simply Shabby Chic sheets and shams back! So, I needed a new bed to go with!
That’s my darling old teddy bear. He is very, very old. <3
I am loving my new sheets and bed! <3

This was the day I decided I didn’t want to stay in Paris anymore for my birthday.
But I didn’t know where to go yet… I woke up, went to the cafe nearby for a late brekkie/lunch of that duck and potatoes dish I had food envy on a coupla days ago, walked around a little, and came back to the apartment to come up with a plan.
Loved this little red tricycle since Day #1.
And always wondered which kid it belonged to.

Well, the duck and potatoes looked better than they tasted. They weren’t horrible, but not as tender as I wistfully imagined.
After a wander around the hood, I came back to the apartment and jumped online to ponder my options. I happened to see my friend in Vienna online and caught up with him. He immediately invited me over to Vienna upon hearing it was going to be my birthday the next day and I was alone in Paris. This was about 4 pm in the arvo. Within minutes, I booked my flight to Vienna for the very next morning and he had my hotel room all sorted out!
I was extremely excited! And also nervous that the jerk would re-appear at any minute. To avoid a potentially nasty encounter, I packed and moved to a nearby hotel. I was sad to leave the wonderful apartment, but heaved a huge sigh of relief once I was out the door and up the street. I was lucky to find a hotel very nearby, just one block further up the street. So I was even able to have one last meal at my favourite cafe, of my favourite eggs and foie gras! Yes, I had it for supper. LOL!

By the third day, the jerk had shown his true colours and after my rejection of his physical advances, he had completely vanished. Just as well, I went shopping on my own. :)

I then had the most expensive awful meal at Laduree’s restaurant.
We got off to a good start with nice breads and water in a crystal jug.
The restaurant was cosy and nicely set up.
My starter of foie gras with rose macaron.
It was… interesting. Not fantastic.
I had high hopes on the steak but I should have realised everything
on the menu would be sweet. Including steak.
I was all sugared out by the time dessert came. I must say,
the ice cream was the most enjoyable part of the meal.
And of course, by the time the macarons came,
I could hardly take another bite of something sweet.
But I had to. I was at Laduree!
They were excellent, of course. But I could not finish them. Blasphemy!
I still love them. Just not with an entirely sweet meal.
