bB was taking a nice, leisurely shower last evening, when she saw a little dot moving up the wall.
Being slightly myopic, she had to lean closer to see what it was… And it was the teeniest, weeniest, little snail! He was laboriously crawling up the wall, completely drenched from bB’s splashing around, but moving along very determinedly.
bB took care to finish her shower without getting more water on that particular part of the wall… She dried off, went out the bathroom, did her skincare, blow-dried her hair, and came back to look for the little friend. He was nowhere to be seen!
“Do snails crawl that fast?”, bB wondered.
So she went about doing something else, and then casually commented to Mom that she saw a snail in the shower. Mom’s reaction was rather surprising.
“WHAT? And you left it in there? Why didn’t you get it out?”
So into the bathroom, bB went again.
“I don’t see it!”
And then, she saw the little snail friend, crawling along up the underside of a water pipe, full of determination.
“There you are!”
She plucked him off the pipe, oh-so-carefully, with her fingers, and put him on her fingernail. He spent the next 20 minutes exploring nail and finger. bB then had to rush out for an appointment, so she carried him out with her and deposited him onto a leaf of her neighbour’s potted plant.
“Buhbye, little snail friend!”
She then spent the next hour wondering if she should have brought him to the ground floor and put him on the grass instead. What if there was no food on the potted plant? What do snails actually eat? Is he going to be okay?
