Spruce

A wonderful dinner was had at Spruce, with Kate, her adorable son Jerrell, and Amanda (who arrived a little later). The food was awesome!

Fruit juices are freshly squeezed here. Not from bottles! This is something lacking in many establishments today.

The restaurant is cosy and has a lovely outdoor area as well. We chose to sit indoors to avoid feeding the mozzies…

Kate and bB both chose the Steak Frites, bB opted to include foie gras with hers.

One word – amazing!

The foie gras was beautifully done. Savoury crust on the outside, juicy and plump on the inside. Even Kate agreed it was good, and she usually fears the taste of foie gras.

The good sized chunks of beef we each got, Kate’s done medium, bB’s done medium rare, were absolutely wonderful as well. Juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned with sea salt.

This was one seriously good piece of meat.

The fries were not the best I’ve had, but they were seasoned well and still very delectable. Best eaten piping hot.

For dessert, we shared a Ginger Date Pudding. The ginger flavour could have been stronger, but it was nommy anyway with the generous scoop of creamy, smooth vanilla ice cream.

Butterscotch sauce was drizzled in a circle around the pudding and ice cream. If they had drizzled it directly on the pudding, it would have been awesome.

Service was warm and prompt. All in all, a wonderful time was had and excellent food was consumed. bB will definitely be back at Spruce!
