Hummerstons

Lunch with Kate last week was at Hummerstons, a new joint I’ve been waiting to check out.

Very pretty, laid back place. I liked it immediately.

Quaint little details were a nice touch.

As we placed our order, we noticed the waiter wasn’t very knowledgeable about their food and menu. He was unable to give any recommendations or answer many of our questions. Probably an untrained staff because the place is quite new.

My strawberry milkshake was average. I liked having the scoop of vanilla ice cream, but the strawberry flavour of the milkshake itself wasn’t strong enough.

The poutine (fries with additional ingredients and gravy) was quite awesome. We chose to try the Montreal – cheese, mushrooms, gravy and foie gras. I love foie gras, potatoes, cheese, mushrooms and my fries soggy as well so I loved this! The flavour was very full and can be a little heavy so if you like your appetizers light, don’t try this.

Our main was the Eggs Gloria – a thick slice of toast with the eggs wedged inside, with mushrooms, blue cheese on top, on a bed of spinach. This was really enjoyable as well. It was good we shared because the toast was really thick and chunky and the amount of ingredients was very generous. It was a very satisfying meal.

I really liked the atmosphere of Hummerstons. Tucked away in a quiet corner on a balcony to look at the bustle below. Most items on the menu appeal to me as well. I must show Mr Bb this place so I will be back for sure!

Mozzies

They love me too much. I have six new bites today, five on my legs, one on my arm. I am a mozzie buffet.

And because I’m white as paper, this guarantees me six brand new scars. Along with days of itching.

Man, how I hate them so. Mozzies, scars AND itching.

Mr Boston says it’s because I am sweet. Sigh. Maybe it’s not a good thing to be sweet?

Does this mean those people around me are the bitter ones? Hur hur.
